anaheim is 100% the favourite in my eyes. When u got those two stud D-men who never leave the ice come play-off team, why wouldnt they be??? a lack of hunger since they won last yr is the only thing but I dont think thats gonna happen, I wouldnt be surprised at all if they repeat. Pens #1 talent in the East though boyeeeee

I know they mentioned it on TSN at the end of the coverage, but its worth saying again: Two teams that everyone had written off last year because they made "no huge deals".... Ottawa and Anaheim. That worked out ok for them.

the pens did make the biggest improvement though, definitely in a better place to challenge Ottawa this year than last year.

"the Cup is won with defense and goaltending"

Uh, I believe Hal Gill and Marc-Andre Fleury have us covered in those departments.

eventually those young players were going to come up for renewals anyways, around the same time, so they essentially dealt a medium-shot over the next 3 years for a good-shot this year. Long-term, the team has a great future regardless.

Good luck resigning Hossa... Man the Pens had so many young prospects and depth, they dealt a lot for another offensive player who they may lose in the summer for nothing. Hossa's pretty sick, but the Cup is won with defense and goaltending, not Hossa dangling around some D and getting nailed.

Gill and Hossa...Very solid. If the Pens can sign Hossa to a medium-length extension and hold onto Ryan Malone (UFA after this season) I'll like this deal a lot more. With a new arena and big time playoff revenue ready to come in for a long time, maybe the Pens are ready to start spending, so it's possible.
