10. Cleveland 33 at Baltimore 30 (OT) (Week 11) – It’s a shame this Cleveland team didn’t make the playoffs this year. They had an explosive offense, playmakers on defense and game-changing special teams. A rare overturned FG pushed this game into overtime where the Browns eventually prevailed to improve their record to 6-4 and put themselves in immediate playoff contention.

9. NY Giants 21 at Chicago 16 (Week 13) – This game may not have registered on many people’s radars but I feel that this was the true TSN turning point in the Giants’ season. With the Bears deep in their own zone Devin Hester dropped a wide open TD bomb from Rexy and after a sack and a 30 yard punt, the Giants took over at the Bears’ 30. They quickly punched it in and took control of the game. A loss in that game would have put the Giants on the playoff bubble but the win helped them secure their 5 seed, distancing themselves from the rest of the pack.

8. Green Bay 27 at Dallas 37 (Week 13) – At the time, these two teams were the class of the NFC and this game had huge implications for home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Another controversial Thursday night NFL Network game that was seen by only a few in the U.S. turned out to be one of the best pure NFC matchups of the year.

7. Jacksonville 31 at Pittsburgh 29 (AFC Wildcard Round) – The most entertaining game of the first round will always be remembered by me for the David Garrard scamper on 4th down that eventually led to the game winning FG. This back and forth battle definitely was one of the more entertaining games of the year.

6. NY Giants 23 at Green Bay 20 (OT) (NFC Championship) – The Giants’ dream season continued in this one. It seemed like Favre was destined to win this game: the freezing cold at Lambeau coupled with typical missed opportunities by the Giants gave the Pack all the momentum heading into overtime. Everything was going their way until a Favre interception spelled doom and the rest is history.

5. New England 27 at Baltimore 24 (Week 13) – At the beginning of the year I’m sure a ton of football fans had this game circled on their calendar, but rolling into the game with a 5 game losing streak, nobody gave Baltimore a shot. The Ravens D had them in the game the whole way and it took an amazing final drive by the Pats to keep the perfect season alive.

4. New England 38 at NY Giants 35 (Week 17) – What more could you have asked for with this one? Evidently the answer was the Super Bowl, but that doesn’t take that much away from this game. With all the history on the line, the Giants gave the Pats everything they could handle when it meant absolutely nothing to them. While they didn’t win the game it set the tone for their Super Bowl run. On a side note, hopefully this shows teams that it isn’t in their best interest to take games off to rest for the playoffs.

3. Dallas 25 vs. Buffalo 24 (Week 5) – They might have to change the spelling of heartbreak to B-I-L-L-S. Buffalo’s first time on Monday Night Football since forever will go down as one of the most painful losses of the season. With the game seemingly in hand Dallas mounted an unbelievable comeback despite 5 Tony Romo interceptions and broke the hearts of Bills fans still reeling from the Elam last second FG in Week 1.

2. Cincinnati 45 at Cleveland 51 (Week 2) – There is nothing like a good old-fashioned shootout. This was the Browns breakout game of the season with Derek Anderson proving he can throw with the best of them. A back and forth game that resulted in 96 points and 1,085 combined yards of offense was a pleasure for any football fan to watch.

1. NY Giants 17 vs. New England 14 (Super Bowl) – The last game of the season turned out to be the best. Everyone except Giant fans spent the whole game waiting for the Pats to pull ahead for good and they just never got anything clicking on offense. Then, once it seemed like New York had a chance, there was the Brady to Moss dagger that seemed to clinch it. Eli Manning? Two minute drill? Forget it. Then a miracle happened. The Helmet Catch will easily go down as one of the greatest plays of our generation and led to the Plex fade for the lead. You almost half-expected the Pats to come right back and score but the Giants D continued their stellar play and held on for the W.
