---------------------------------
re: A normal road trip and you could accept a 4-5 record, but not this time. It’s 5-4 or bust on this trip, at least if you don’t want another month of ‘this team is too inconsistent’ articles.
---------------------------------

In baseball, unlike basketball, it really is all about run production ... and, at some point, the only way for this collection of Jays to go is to start "manufacturing" more runs, National League style (e.g. hit & run, sac bunt, hitting behind the runner, etc.), in support of the team's outstanding pitching staff.

Now that they've addressed their Lefty-Righty imbalance somewhat - adding in a marginal player Wilkerson who at least hits from the side of the plate they've been needing to fill for quite some time - the quality of their season's finish will come down to whether or not John Gibbons can succeed in this area of the game.

If they can generate 1 more run per game ... with this 'small ball'/'old school' type of offensive strategy, in a timely fashion ... and Vernon Wells comes back with some addition pop in his bat ... this Jays team is good enough to win the East Division this season, given the injury struggles/etc. that Boston and New York are going through + the fact that Tampa Bay is leading the division.

This year is there chance, at last.

Can they capitalize?
