Like this trade for raps. Honestly, i think if this trade goes thru, raps stole this one. ford is as injury plaque as o'neal, but not as skilled, rasho is rotation guy and 17 pick is 50/50. if o'neal stays healthy, raps are gonna give teams big problems. i like calderon at pg, and HOPE bargani can finally have his breakout season. Also, BC isnt done yet. Looking forward to next season.

"Both Phoenix and Portland were looking to acquire T.J. Ford from the Raptors before Bryan Colangelo took an offer that included Jermaine O'Neal from Indiana, according to The Toronto Star.

The Raptors also reportedly had a deal on the table that would have sent Ford to Charlotte for swingman Gerald Wallace, but the Bobcats refused to add a second rounder to sweeten the deal." - Toronto Star

Umm, I know I sold myself on this deal already but Gerald Wallace? Seriously? He is not a perfect solution for small forward? I know, I know, I'm nitpicking since J-O is a great fit at center but DAMN...Wallace is my boy!

CDR would have been great, I agree, but why trade up when you could have had Bill Walker at #41, an equal player to CDR but with health concerns? Can't believe we passed on him.

Kudos to the Pacers, too, for completely rebuilding in a day and bringing in Ford, expiring contracts, Hibbert, Rush, and Jack. They're future is looking brighter when Murphy comes off the books.

This would have been an absolutely amazing trade had Chris Douglas-Roberts fallen one more pick to us at 41. If Jermaine O'Neil stays healthy and displays that he can still play strong interior defence and block shots this is a solid trade. We don't need him to score 20 points a game and hopefully he can adjust to being the second, maybe third, option, as you said there have been character issues.

This leaves the Raptors with one more hole to fill this summer. We need a solid swing slasher and I have to question why Colangelo wouldn't buy the Spurs 1st round pick or at least move up in the second round to take Chris Douglas-Roberts. I think he is just the type of player the Raptors need - a tall slasher who knows how to score. Hopefully Colangelo can fill this hole with our mid-level exemption.

I don't know about Calderon. The guy gets the job done, but I honestly don't see him as a supreme talent in the league. He takes care of the ball very well and always passes first. The only time he ever really shoots the ball is if he is wide open and other than that he just uses his first step to get around slower defenders. Compare him to any other starting PG's out there and I don't see him emerging as anything spectacular. He also won't draw any extra attention from most defences to free up more space on the floor.

Horrible trade for the Raps... If you want to win a championship you will never do it with 2 of your best players being big men. You need a big man and a PG/SG. They can work the high-low and feed off of eachother opening the court so much more than a PF and C clogging up the key for eachother...

O’Neal confirmed the trade Thursday, saying he was pleased with the move by team president Larry Bird.

“He wanted to get me to a place where I could contend and do what I’m capable of doing,” O’Neal told The Associated Press. “We both agreed that the timing was perfect. His focus on getting them (the Pacers) to a level where they can grow and start to be competitive was tremendous.”

From RealGM: The Indiana Pacers are denying that a deal has been reached with the Toronto Raptors which would see Jermaine O'Neal exchanged for T.J. Ford, the Associated Press is reporting.
