That would have been a terrible deal for the Jays. While Bay is Canadian and great and blah blah, Snider projects as a far better player and could be ready by 2010 (forming a disgusting 3-4-5-6 of Rios-Snider-Cooper-Lind). Additionally, Cecil is a recent #1 pick and projects as a solid middle-rotation lefty. No brainer for J.P.

I don’t know who Travis Snider or Brett Cecil are, so this isn’t really that valid of an opinion, but…Wouldn’t picking up Bay give them one of the best outfields in the majors, when healthy? Plus Bay is relatively cheap until the end of next year…Just seems like a no brainer to me.

Sports Illustrated reported today that the Jays turned down a two for one trade for Bay with Travis Snider and Brett Cecil (Two of the Jays top prospects going the other way). Good move for Blue Jays? Its hard to deny the draw of an All-Star Canadian in the outfield…but at the same JP could be right by not trading away top prospects. What do OCD Readers think?
