My guess is that he loads up on young and affordable players, simulates a season so they get really good, and then plays the next year when they're all good and cheap. His roster probably has CP3 and Jose at the point, JR Smith and Monta Ellis at the two, Iguodala and LeBron at the three, himself and David Lee at the four, and Andris Biedrins (undervalued in a video game for sure) and a fake drafted centre in the middle.
