Recently, Carmelo Anthony claimed he is the best Small Forward in the West, and nobody else is close. While I will concede, teeth clenched, that he is the best SF out West, I do so with an enormous for now. Kevin Durant is hot on his tails. Check out my breakdown of this battle over at Hoops Addict, it’s a good read, I think!

Big Sexy's Boombox
Artist Profile: Kid Cudi
How You May Know Him: Appeared on a couple of Kanye's 808s & Heartbreak Tracks, uncredited
You may Have Heard: His big single, Day N Nite
Why You Should Watch Out: He has a very unique sound - it's slower paced and his lyrics are clever and intelligent. The lack of club-bangers could hurt his mainstream popularity, but the fact that he comes off as more of a Kanye-type than a gangster rapper makes him a potential crossover success. I'm hooked on his mixtape right now, and he might be the person to watch out for most in 2009.
Defining Line: "It's kind of easy if you have a open mind/This game is more than spending money and f***ing dimes/It's all within in your words some s**t that outlives time/There must be 50 ways to make a record"
Check Him Out: You can download his mixtape, A Kid Named Cudi, here! -

I’d take Durant over Carmelo any day - short and longterm.

Me too, by a landslide. He is already (no exaggeration at all) my favorite player of all time. Melo gets the edge because of the Gold Medal/team success/longer tenure/2006-07, but I have no doubt Durant is The Guy. I have an article coming to that effect soon.
